8 Things I love about my body

blackandwhiteimhotHere’s the honest truth. Some days, I forget I love my body.
It’s true. But I don’t want to focus on the things I don’t like.
I want to be for my body not against it. It’s called #BodyPositivity
I think it’s important that I sit with it for a bit and find things to love.

8 Things I’m positive I love about my body
1. It’s forgiving! I’m sick today, but it keeps pushing on. It realizes that this isn’t the first, nor the last time I’ll be sick and it just continues doing its job. It’s better at being sick then I am, thank goodness.
2. My eyes, they deserve some recognition. First off, of course, they do the important work of seeing everything but they also seem to attract a few things too, if ya know what I mean. I have big, brown eyes. They get compliments. I know if I look you in the eye, I’ll incite some response.
3. My teeth, I’ve been blessed with decent teeth and I’ve noticed some people avoid smiling because they don’t like theirs so that makes me more thankful for them.
4. My hair, It’s thick, brunette and straight. Sometimes I find it annoying that it won’t hold a curl, is really heavy and difficult to do anything with but I’ve also heard that curly hair is hard to deal with, and girls use straighteners to get the look I wake up with. I get compliments on it and I think I should just learn to enjoy it the way it is. A hair stylist once told me something about it having dimension to the color or something, I guess that means the color isn’t flat, again I guess this is something people look for when they dye their hair. I’ll take it.
5. Let’s just throw it out there..my breasts. Their motherly and nourishing when they need to be, their sexy, not at the same time, thanks. They complement the whole figure.
6. My booty, everyone is trying to have a big butt these days and I don’t have to try.
7. My legs, not only are they great transportation but they rarely let me down when it comes the time I need to look good if I put them in a pair of heels.
8. My strength, truth is I need to spend some more time working out but my body is still incredible. I believe giving birth was a testament to that!

Please don’t misunderstand, I could have easily written a list of things I don’t like about my body but what good would that have done? I’m refusing to give time to that right now. It’s enough when there are stolen moments of insecurity when I’m trying on jeans or gaaahhhhhh the dreaded bathing suit. Being #Bodypositive allows me to appreciate my body the way it is today, which is something I totally would tell my younger self if I had the opportunity to go back. Appreciate where you are today, who you are today and welcome change but be happy in your skin now.

This post is truly inspirational. I support #bodypositivity in every way, but am I giving MYSELF enough? This blog made me realize, I don’t. Not nearly enough. My body was my favorite little person’s home for almost 42 whole weeks. After birth, it gave him nourishment and nutrients, skin to skin comfort, and arms to wrap around him and rock him to blissful sleep. Truth is, I love my body. Thank you for helping me realize it!

    1. I am right there with you! We often support others in ways we fail to support ourselves. I think we also hesitate to fully acknowledge the beauty in our bodies for fear that others will judge. If we speak highly of ourselves then are we being too boastful, will people think that we think we are perfect but then if we have negative self-talk that can be detrimental as well. Truth is, even after I wrote this I was second guessing if it was too straightforward but the feedback has been positive and it has been therapeutic to look at myself in such a loving way. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
